Position Overview

Isobar is seeking applicants to work in Agile project team settings handling a variety of Lead QA responsibilities.

Quality Assurance Leads at Isobar must be able to work in project team settings handling a variety of roles and responsibilities, with primary responsibility for planning and executing the quality assurance thread of a project.

QA Leads must be analytical problem solvers with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to lead a team of testers in improving the quality of software. Candidates must be self-starters, detail oriented, and able to quickly learn and apply new knowledge in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.

QA Leads at Isobar work closely with Project Managers to lead teams to verify business and functional requirements. They work collaboratively with the development, functional and user experience teams to identify issues and create plans for the resolution of defects. They also drive issue prioritization and contribute to project scoping. They must have a deep understanding of QA processes, testing, and defect tracking and management. They should be comfortable working with a variety of teams and individuals, including user experience, creative, technical, and program management as well as our partners and customers.


Testing and Operation
  • Implement rigorous testing processes and coordinate testing activities of both functional testing (requirement-based, business-process-based, and use-case) and non-functional testing (load, performance, stress, security, stability, compatibility - backward and forward, data migration, data conversion, configuration, and usability) for the project
  • Create test plans, write test cases, and execute tests in multiple configurations and environments throughout the project engagement  
  • Provide leadership, support, and ongoing guidance to members of the QA team
  • Track QA program interdependencies, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely and successful project implementation and deployment
  • Manage testing feedback, lead defect prioritization, and communicate regularly with discipline leads to ensure proper resolution in a timely fashion
  • Manage the bug tracking process, track issues status and resolution progress, and create quality matrices for the project team
  • Evangelize and implement the upstream quality assurance approach to review design artifacts and requirements in order to identify gaps and issues in the requirements phase
  • Estimate QA efforts and collaborate with multidiscipline leads to analyze variances and initiate corrective actions to meet quality assurance financial objectives
  • Recommend best practices and approaches to fine-tune the system to better suit user needs and expectations
  • Lead testing sessions with clients for user acceptance testing, as well as make presentations to clients to develop, build, and sustain strong client relationships
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to develop cohesive and innovative QA solutions 
Technical Understanding
  • Understand cutting-edge technologies, including but not limited to one or more of the following: front-end applications (web, mobile web, and native mobile), responsive design, or n-tier architectures
  • Understand back-end service testing and service monitoring using multiple methods (web service inspection tools, browser inspection tools, application server logs, etc.)
  • Experience in web, mobile web, and/or native mobile applications for one or more of the following: CMS-driven corporate sites, high-traffic consumer sites, B2B sites, commerce platforms, employee portals or marketing platforms
  • Comfortable with querying databases to create and validate test data using SQL tools
  • Understand test automation and able to recommend approaches and test cases for the creation of automated test scripts
  • Communicate QA test progress, outstanding issues, and risks to internal and external teams 
  • Present written and oral communications in an organized and structured manner with an ability to level the communications appropriately for the target audience (internal team communications, client presentations, etc.) 
  • Maintain consistent dialogue and brainstorm with discipline leads to ensure quality and timely delivery throughout development and test cycles
  • Articulate the steps required to reproduce a bug with accompanying details (screenshots, test data, etc.) 
Required Experience/Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years professional experience in consulting with at least three years of experience with quality assurance responsibilities
  • Experience leading a QA team with processes, tools, and best practices in Agile development and testing
  • Experience leading testing activities in multiple test phases and conducting user acceptance testing with internal and external clients
  • Consulting experience delivering software solutions at an enterprise scale for one or more of the following applications: web, mobile web, or native mobile 
  • Understanding of user experience design and iterative development of web and mobile applications, including a basic understanding of the technologies and tools used to develop such software
  • Experience serving as the functional subject matter expert on projects based on previous experience and/or the ability to quickly learn and become the resident expert
  • Experience in data analysis, database testing, and back-end service testing
  • Experience in data analytic concepts and testing
  • Experience in object-oriented programming (C++, Java, Ruby, etc.) a big plus
  • Thorough understanding of QA processes and all testing types, including integration testing, system testing, performance testing, web service testing and security testing
  • Thorough understanding of functional, regression, and user acceptance testing
  • Thorough understanding of automated QA processes, test strategy, and overall test harness 
  • Ability to work from requirements and design specifications to develop and execute test specifications and test scripts across multiple data-intensive applications
  • Thorough understanding of creative processes, technical development, and service delivery processes
  • Thorough understanding of requirements gathering processes, functional test planning, and functional documentation
  • Thorough understanding of documentation review, gap analysis, and user centered design processes and associated assets, including requirements, wireframes, design comps, test cases, etc.
  • Ability to choose appropriate test, review, and inspection techniques for data verification, web service inspection, and log inspection
  • Thorough understanding of issue tracking, issue management and test status reporting
  • Ability to plan quality assurance activities and ensure that testing standards and practices are followed by an entire project team
  • Ability to work and manage a team for reviews and test executions to improve the quality of software
