The Pencil of Hope

The Pencil of Hope

For the 5th anniversary of the Syrian civil war, we raised awareness about children in the area by asking people to redraw their traumatized drawings into hopeful ones.

The results

People started thinking about Syrian children and gave them hope.

The challenge

We know about the horrible conflicts, but forget the innocent children.

During the 5 years of the war, news headlines were focused on political and military conflicts. People rarely think about the whole generation of children living in the area, who suffer because of the battles.

The solution

Let’s invite people to change how children see the future through their drawings.

We introduced the Pencil of Hope, a digital tool that enables people to draw over children’s traumitized pictures to turn them into hopeful ones. The new drawings were printed onto blankets and notebooks and sent to Syrian children in camps.
