Account Director



  • Is a key shaper of the creative output, using insight and judgment to get the right answers
  • Is a skilled evaluator of ideas and their ability to travel across channels, and drive change or be changed 
  • Can influence the agency or client team with skill to shift direction if required.
  • Brings strategic insight to the process, and is highly involved in building long-term strategic and creative platforms for our clients
  • Paints a clear vision for the agency team of what success looks like strategically and creatively 
  • Understands how to use research to serve the idea and enable success 
  • Looks for opportunities to develop +1 briefs or projects for the client through deep understanding of their business 


  • Develops a strong relationship with mid and senior clients 
  • Is experienced commercially, can negotiate fees and is highly involved in discussions on annual retainers. Can develop complex SOWs
  • Take responsibility for sharing, understanding and upholding the client contract.
  • Is the key team member for ensuring the scope and fee align, regularly monitors pacing 
  • Is able to have difficult conversations without creating drama – with client and agency team
  • Manages the career development and progress of AE/AM/SAM
  • Helps the agency manage resource and forward planning 
  • IPA Commercial Certificate and Leg Regs certificate required 


  • Plays a central role in leading the multi-agency team, and is able to foster the spirit of collaboration within the different agencies 
  • Creates clear direction for the collaborative team. Doesn’t accept poor thinking or contributions from the other agencies, and uses influence and negotiation to improve the answers
  • Spots opportunities within DAN for business growth, and is beginning to foster a positive network within DAN

Looks for ways to contribute to agency culture, perhaps through owning a specific initiative  

Skills & Experience 

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience 
  • Like/ love of sports preferred 
  • 5+ years experience in a Client Services in an agency team, ideally as part of a Global team for some of that 
  • demonstrates a strategic viewpoint on marketing communications 
  • direct marketing and/or digital marketing experience 
  • confidence in presenting and negotiation of options around strategy, creative execution and budgeting 
  • an excellent communicator and team player 
  • a strong attention to detail and time management skills 
  • high level of production experience
