Iliyana Angelova

Programme Director

So, who are you and what do you do?
Hi I’m Iliyana and I’m a Programme Director. I’ve been with Isobar for nine years and I’m part of the delivery team in Sofia, Bulgaria. We work closely with the UK teams to produce outstanding work for our clients.

Tell us a bit about your background
I have 16 years experience in IT industry, in that time I’ve worked as a software engineer, a business analyst, a project manager and then a program manager. I’ve worked as a program and project manager for the last 10 years’, I worked on projects in the private and public government sector.

My main speciality is working on payment integrations and ecommerce platforms. While working for Isobar since 2012 my major focus has been working with our clients: ASDA, Clarins and Shiseido.

What does your normal working day look like?
My normal working day looks like a back-to-back calendar full of meetings. It’s vital that I am 100% focused on the current task or project, I oversee its success, making sure we are meeting our deadlines and working to the best of our ability. It’s an agile environment.

A successfully delivered project often requires multiple teams, to ensure we have the best talent working on the program. Sometimes this means collaborating with isobar and dentsu agencies at different locations around the world.

What skills and expertise do you need to be good at your role?
Firstly, discipline, I need to ensure I spent my time wisely between the different projects and set priorities to get the job done.

It’s also very important to be able to think outside of the box – all the challenges our clients face are unique, and there is no single solution that fits them all. Coming up with new ideas and solutions is what keeps us (and our clients) at the top of our game.

Lastly, passion and curiosity is very important. We always explore the most innovative, optimal and highest quality solution for our clients. As a team we are always evolving. As technology progresses, so do we because we pride ourselves on being ahead of the curve.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?
I love that is very dynamic and challenging. I get to work with people from all over the world, everyone has different expertise, different experience, and a unique culture. The best thing is that I never stop learning.

Do you have any advice for someone starting out in their career?
My advice would be that if you want to be successful, just make sure you love your job. If you do then you’ll enjoy learning new things every day and you never stop exploring.
