Hong Kong has had a tough time in 2020. So Google wanted to create a campaign that would reconnect people and communities; revitalise large and small businesses, and support the local economy. With the globally-leading digital expertise at their fingertips, Google created the HO JENG AR app, an augmented reality-enabled app with six iconic characters, but needed a creative partner to help bring these characters to life in a campaign that would help spread the word.
ShareJoy campaign is an initiative by Google Hong Kong that features the designed exclusively for Hong Kong, aiming to spread happiness and positivity in Hong Kong. To bring the HO JENG ARcharacters to life, Isobar created profiles, each has its name, personality, mental state, origin story and catchphrase to encourage people to ‘go out and do something fun’. These characters were carefully created to bring meaning to the app and its users through HK’s rich culture – from Neon Sign, Hiker Twins, Milk Tea, Fishballs and the Star Ferry, all with their playful and unique personalities.
Through its storytelling and creative capabilities, Isobar helped bring these characters to life with a series of animated adventure stories to emotionally resonate with the young and old, and boost the well-being of family and friends.
A printable activity pack has also been developed in partnership with Save the Children, to support mental-wellbeing, playdates and elderly engagement, using storytelling and communications to develop intergenerational relationships and improve happiness and wellbeing.
