Zhana Yurukova

Lead Solution Strategist

So, who are you and what do you do?

Hey, I’m Zhana and I’ve been working at Isobar for almost 6 years now. I am a Lead Solution Strategist as part of the Solution and Architecture team out in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Tell us a bit about your background.

I started my professional career back in 2012, where I began building my specialism in ecommerce. Before Isobar I worked directly with retailers to drive their marketplace online strategy, mostly on ebay and amazon.

I joined this company back when we were known as Ecommera, and have seen a lot of growth as we became Isobar, part of the dentsu global network. I was attracted to join the company because of its reputation of having long lasting relationships with some of the largest players in the ecommerce field.

What does your normal working day look like?

Since the pandemic my days have changed a lot, I spend a lot of time attending video calls on Zoom, Microsoft teams and Slack. These tend to be discussions with the engineering teams, who implement our solutions, the strategic teams, who keep our projects on track and our 3rd party partners such as Adobe and Salesforce.

My role is to act as a product owner in the agile context and I’m very involved in the requirements definition phase. I also get to attend a variety of workshops to ensure we are up to date on new and emerging features and integrations that can be implemented for our clients. We’re always learning so we can provide the best work.

What skills and expertise do you need to be good at your job?

Proactivity is crucial, we need to be on-top of projects and often one-step ahead. Sometimes you need to be very patient, especially when negotiating, having an eye for the detail is also a must. Also, being able to build a strong working relationship with the client is key, being able to present work and discuss ideas helps to strengthen our relationship, both internally and externally.

What’s your favourite thing about your role?

I love that the work we do has a real positive impact on the customer journey for some of the biggest retailers worldwide. Plus because of our positive client relationship we have a lot of flexibility to suggest new features and further site improvements. I enjoy getting to participate in innovation workshops and knowing that we are always bettering our capabilities.

Do you have any advice for someone starting out in their career?

Don’t be afraid to fail.

Things won’t always work out the way you envision them, but more often than not it’s for the best.

Lastly, I would say that it’s perfectly ok to start small, don’t feel demotivated by titles, everyone has to start somewhere.
