Isobar’s digital elites awarded at Digital Media Awards and China Digital A-List

Last week, the winners for the 2018 Digital Media Awards and China Digital A-List were announced and several of Isobar’s digital elites were recognized at these prestigious events.

In the People & Brand Awards section of the Digital Media Awards, Eve Lo, Chief Consultant of Brand Commerce Consultancy for Isobar China Group, received a Gold Award for Digital Strategist of the Year.

In the 2018 China Digital A-List, three leaders from Isobar China Group were named in the Digital A-list as a Motivator, Achiever, and Disrupter respectively: James Yang, Managing Director of Isobar Beijing; Jianhao Chen, Chief Technology Officer of Verystar-Linked by Isobar; and Alvin Huang, CEO of Isobar China Group.

Now let’s get to know our four digital superstars:

Eve Lo

Isobar China Group

Chief Consultant of Brand Commerce Consultancy

Eve has over 30 years’ experience in providing data-driven solutions that help clients build strong brands and expand businesses, making Eve highly-regarded as one of the pioneers to use data for brand expansion.

Eve built Isobar’s Brand Commerce Consultancy Unit (BCCU) from scratch in July 2014 to what is now a 50-person team. Within a communications group, BCCU acts as the catalyst to help brands with their digital transformation strategy. She led the R&D team to develop a near real-time consumer experience tracker - CODE 1 - that leverages big data to support brand commerce consulting services.

James Yang

Isobar Beijing

Managing director

“James helped differentiate Mamaway from our competitors in the pre-and post-natal industry and developed a logo that perfectly represents our brand.”

– Deborah Liu, CEO, Mamaway

After successfully heading Isobar’s brand commerce consultancy unit (BCCU) in Beijing for a period of time, James Yang was promoted to managing director of Isobar Beijing in early 2018 and has continued to lead the charge for the company’s data-informed, digitally-driven efforts.

In the year prior, James helped BCCU win over 20 projects and increased revenue by 400 percent. At the same time, he saw his unit grow from 20 to 40 people. Meanwhile, his business thinking, big data analysis and innovation expertise has played a large role in the work he does for clients.

Amongst his team, James is credited for creating a learning culture. He has encouraged team members to publish point-of-view articles on digital trends, new technology and new methodologies on WeChat.

James himself writes a regular column in Business Management Review to share his perspective on branding. Through seminars and speeches, he has drawn upon his background in branding consultancy to establish his expertise on the topic, a tactic that has secured the trust of clients such as Mamaway and CITIC.

Jianhao Chen

VeryStar-Linked by Isobar

CTO

“Chen’s innovative thinking and in-depth understanding of client needs enables him to develop breakthrough, cost-effective solutions.”

– Elton Huang, IT senior director, Yum China

In the past year, Chen Jianhao has led his team in the transformation of VeryStar towards AI integration, helping to service their clients with better precision. This is in response to rapid changes in the market environment and subsequent shifts in customer expectations. A notable highlight is Chen’s recent work for Starbucks, wherein his team successfully assisted the brand in changing WeChat gift giving habits from red envelopes to coffee, translating to a significant increase in sales. Recently, in Jianhao’s leadership, Verystar further integrated Starbucks' gift card program into Alipay and launched the Alipay mini program.

Chen’s ability to rethink different platform features, product values and user experiences can be credited to his 19 years of experience in software innovation. Not surprisingly, he has been recognised as one of the most valuable O2O consultants in the retail sector by Starbucks, SPG, KFC and Pizza Hut alike.

Alvin Huang

Isobar China Group CEO

“Alvin is good at bringing together talents from different fields to jointly achieve new business goals. No one is better fit to lead Isobar China to its next frontier.”

– Jane Lin-Baden, CEO, Isobar Asia Pacific

Well-connected in the digital industry with a passion for new technology, Huang is a recognised talent with strong expertise in both digital creative and media. In 2017, his main task as managing director was in bringing Isobar agency brands together and boosting the integration and development of the group. Case in point, he coordinated three of Dentsu Aegis Network’ agencies and jointly launched Acura e-Performance Shop, which utilised an online virtual experience showroom to overtake the sales function of offline showrooms, meeting the needs of China’s burgeoning auto market.

In recognition of his achievements in driving innovation and developing new business growth points, Huang was promoted to CEO of Isobar China Group. In his new role, he will be expanding Isobar’s digital capabilities, and driving strategic business growth even further. He also plans to further enhance collaboration between the group’s agencies in China and foster more integration within the teams at Dentsu Aegis Network China. Staying committed to linking media, creativity, technology and data, Huang is the face of one of China’s premier digital solutions providers.
