Weekendesk is seeing its first results
With 79%* of French people feeling the need to break their routine and go away for a long weekend, especially those aged 18-35 who go away 3 or 4 times a year, the city-breakers' phenomenon has become the latest target for tourism professionals.
Weekendesk, the leader in weekend break online bookings, launched its iPhone app last December. In 6 months, the free app, available from the Apple Store, is now being promoted by Apple as one of the best "Travel" apps and has already been downloaded over 70,000 times.
Weekendesk will really immerse you in its world. The app, unique in the sector, designed and developed by Isobar (Dentsu Aegis Network group) has 3 key functions:
The first entry point, Weekendesk offers are visible at a glance:
"Promotions in progress"
"Under 2 hours from here": to meet market needs, i.e. destinations easy to get to for a weekend, the function allows the user to explore hotels within geographical reach fast.
"Top Sales": shows the offers most booked by other site clients.
The second entry point, this gives direct access to the best value promotions and:
"Weekendeals": every Thursday, mobile surfers can find the best plans for the coming weekend, a selection of offers negotiated at the last minute with at least 20% reductions. In fact, 40% of mobile bookings are for stays in the next three days, a rate higher than for bookings made from a computer or tablet (20%).
A great help when it comes to decision-making, the app guides mobile surfers as they search. By town/city or theme (dinner, romance, relaxation or fitness, with the family, …).
In addition to these three flagship functions, Weekendesk provides a conventional search engine: "Where do you want to go? " Once the destination has been entered, the algorithm selects all offers available from Weekendesk. For mobile surfers who need time to think before booking, the app also remembers offers consulted.
18,000 active users per month have been counted, with an average basket +20% and +85% on ones registered on the mobile site.
"We already have a website dedicated to mobile that allows all users to connect to our offer ergonomically, with browsing molded so that they can use it on their Smartphone. The Weekendesk app thus adds to this range of media and offers iPhone users smoother, quicker browsing. And it does everything our clients want it to do, as you can see from the number of times it has been downloaded. It is also a new buying channel that employs a great Apple Store referencing strategy", explains Laurent Salanié, Weekendesk General Manager.
A few upgrades are on their way very shortly, especially every week, notifying users that "Weekendeals" are being posted online, good last minute plans for the coming weekend.
The Android app is due to be launched in October 2015.
